Red Nose Day - Friday 18th March 2022
The children have all come to school in non-uniform today, paying a donation of £1.00 to go towards Red Nose Day. The Reception and KS1 children took part in a competition to create their very own nose. We had some fabulous entries! Well done to all of our children and families for making today a success!
World Book Day - Thursday 3rd March 2022
The children have thoroughly enjoyed our World Book Day celebrations. This year we had a bedtime story theme and our children brought in their favourite stories to share with their friends.
Children’s Mental Health Week
We have been taking part in Mental Health Week by doing lots of mindfulness activities and talking through circle times. The Nursery children have enjoyed taking part in yoga sessions throughout the week and the Reception and KS1 children did lots of work around healthy minds and bodies.
Kristan and her pets, from Lion learners, came to our school to talk us about reptiles, amphibians and mammals and their habitats.
Anti-Bullying Week
On Monday 15th November we celebrated Anti-Bullying week by wearing odd socks to
school! All the children and staff joined in - we had some real mix and match combinations!
Mrs Armstrong did an Anti-Bullying Assembly where we talked about kind words and what bullying means. We also did a range of activities throughout the week concentrating on supporting our friends, looking after one another and working as a team. Our week finished on the Friday where we celebrated Children In Need Day and came to school in non-uniform.

Our lovely Westwood children have been collecting items to support Selston Food Bank. Thank you to all parents and children for your donations. Teaching children to be kind and generous to those that are experiencing difficulties is such a valuable lesson. Well done Westwood!
World Book Day 2021
Wow! We have been so very impressed by the children’s efforts at dressing up. We have seen pirates, Little Red Riding Hoods, Thing 1 and Thing 2 and so many many more. A huge thank you to all the children who have joined in at home too. We have had a great day full of authors, stories and creativity. Well done everyone!
Christmas Bauble Competition
We are holding a Christmas Bauble Competition for all children across the school to create a bauble at home for our Christmas Tree in the school hall.
'Get Caught Reading Challenge'
Children from Nursery through to Year Two were given the challenge to read in different places and get it caught on camera. We had so many wonderful entries and our year group winners received a new book to add to their collection.
