Year One and Year Two 2023 - 2024
Hello and welcome to the Year One and Year Two Class Page
Miss Bower will be teaching in this class this year and Miss Goacher and Miss Foster will also be working with us. We are really looking forward to working with the children and supporting their progress as we go through the school year. We have some wonderful topic and learning experiences planned.
This half term we will be focusing on the topic "Habitats". We will be learning about where animals live and what they need in their habitats. We will writing fact files, looking at poems and making posters. Our stories for the half term are 'Lost and found ' and 'Ready steady moo '. There are links below to both of them if you wish to listen to them with your children. We'll also be developing our skills in Maths by learning about fractions, time and directions.
Children have taken home a Library Lodge story book to read please return this on the following Tuesday so we can change this for a new one. If you do have any other books from the library at home please do send them back to school. Please try to read these stories with your children and write in their reading diaries every evening is possible. Reading books will be sent out as the children progress in their Phonics skills.

Creating different flowers!
Exploring globes, atlases and maps.
This week we have been looking at different seasons and the weathers in these different seasons. Year one have been looking at the weather in the UK and year 2 have been looking at how this is different in other countries.
Music
Chinese New Year.
Hanukkah
We learnt about the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah, we created a dreidel to play the traditional game and we collaged a star of David or a menorah.
Frosty days.
Today we explore the frost in the playground, we looked at how if we breathe on the frost it starts to melt! We also wrote our name in the frost and covered our gloves, we were surprised when our gloves became wet.
